Project Overview

For this project, I focused on centering my promotional piece around the Risograph. For my deliverables I created Risograph 11x17 inch poster prints, 2x2 inch stickers, and 2x2 inch pins. I also expanded the Risograph design into my personal branding within my portfolio website, resume, and business card.

Process

I focused on imagery that was unique to me in both style and personality. I used the image of a monkey throughout my portfolio piece and my branding. I used Asian and Southeast Asian monkeys as my main reference images. As I researched I found the Golden Snub Nosed Monkey from central and southwestern China, the Japanese Macaque, specifically Punch the monkey, and the Red Shanked Douc Langur from Vietnam and surrounding countries like Laos and Cambodia. I focused on these monkeys because of their unique features and vibrant colors. By using the Risograph I was able to highlight and exaggerate these vibrant colors of the monkeys. I also wanted to incorporate the monkey and Risograph features in my business card, resume, portfolio, and overall branding. For these other deliverables, I used the red and green colors from the Riosgraph with the multiply feature to create a brown that I would use across my branding. Instead of using the Risograph for these deliverables, I recreated its effect in Illustrator with a purposeful misalignment of colors to replicate the Risograph’s unique printing style.
